Seminary!

We had a pretty good week here in the Beach. On Tuesday we ate dinner with the Kelseys. Their mom is the one that sold our house. They are hilarious! The oldest son is planning on giving a Book of Mormon to his friend. They made us Navaho tacos. They spent a long time in Utah, and I think that dish could be more aptly called Mormon tacos, because something about them just screamed Mormon culture. Anyway they were very good, it was basically tacos made out of chili and scones. But my bowels were not filled with mercy after that meal.
Elder King and I went to Collingwood a few times this week, the land of milk and honey. We were planning on dropping by an older part-member couple. The husband is actually the former owner of the missionary house and he's been a member for 47 years. He remarried about a year-and-a-half ago and his wife isn't a member. We went to the retirement home(which was sweet by the way, it's like EFY for old people and it's all year round). We went into the elevator to go to there room and there they were right there in the elevator. If we had been there 30 seconds earlier we would have missed them. We visited with them for a little while and she agreed to listen to the missionary lessons and they both went to church on Sunday. He's 84 and she is 90, so hopefully the Spirit can still be present while we are shouting doctrine.
We also picked up a new investigator in Collingwood through tracting. Normally this would be a common occurrence, but it's been pretty slow lately so I'm really excited about everyone we get to teach. We ate dinner with the McKeans this week. Recall: The family we tracted into on accident; she's the gospel doctrines teacher and he's a less-active and an OPP officer. They are really into organic food, so we had some nice organic whole wheat spaghetti with venison meatballs and chunks of broccoli. So that was interesting. I've come to love our dinner table conversations with the McKeans, they are pretty funny. We asked Brother McKean if we were allowed to contact people on the main street(the area book says, "It's a great place to contact if you want to get arrested"). He says there's no way we could ever get in trouble for contacting there, so that's really good news.
Elder King and I taught seminary this week while the seminary teacher was out of town. Seminary here is once a week in the evening and they do homework throughout the week. Early morning seminary is way better. There were only 3 people there, the 2 Russian kids and one of the Kelseys. They're probably the most solid group of youth that I've served around. But there weren't really any youth in any of my other areas.
We helped a lady rescue her cat this week. Admittedly, her cat only escaped because she was talking to us with her door slightly opened. We talked to her about the Gospel and she ran inside to retrieve, surprisingly enough, her own copy of the Book of Mormon. It was bookmarked up and she had the names of two missionaries written on the cover from like 20 years ago. Holy smokes. Join the church already!
It snowed again this week, unfortunately. All of the locals say that it's not normal at all for it to snow this late in the year. My fear is that the weather will just skip Spring and go straight to Summer.
Well, have a good week everybody!
