A New Transfer

Last night was transfer night, and we were getting calls left and right about all sorts of crazy things happening. 50% of our missionaries from this week onward have been out for less than 6 months. One of the missionaries that came out of the MTC the same time as me is training a new missionary, and one of the missionaries in my district that has been here only a month and a half longer than me is training. And our new zone leaders are whitewashing, (both missionaries coming in new to the area at the same time) as one of them finished his mission and the other one was called to be a whitewash trainer and district leader. As for me, here's the big surprise: I'm staying in Walkerton with Elder Bennett! Neither of us saw that coming. It's pretty rare that two people serve 3 transfers together. And Elder Bennett is our district leader now, as the rest of the district is only 3, 2, and 0 transfers old. I'm think that us both staying here means that the Lord has people here still that we both need to be here for. I'm really excited for what's in store for us.

Last week was pretty rough for us. We ended up weeding through investigators and we lost 4 this week, including the Hindu couple. We met with them in the evening and they welcomed us in and fed us again. We had no idea they were planning on feeding us dinner; we had already eaten an hour before. But we couldn't turn them down and I went through another round of really bad tasting yogurt. And then we taught them the plan of salvation. I think they really didn't like the concept of the spirit world so they kindly explained that they ad listened to us teach and they loved us but they will stay with their religion. That was really saddening.

We talked with Raquel the Nicaraguan lady after that and she quit her weekend job so she could go to church! But it turns out that her husband doesn't want her to go to our church. Everyone has an obstacle between them and baptism, no matter how golden they are. But her husband is a nice guy, and I'm sure if we handle the situation carefully we will be able to help him understand that our intentions are pure and we aren't just trying to baptize his wife and create a division between them.
